We’re excited to share our Client Spotlight series, where we’ll be interviewing clients we’ve served over the years. These clients are leaders in business and in their fields and will share the services they provide along with some valuable lessons they’ve learned throughout their careers.
Our first Client Spotlight features Paul Allen, CFP (pictured middle), and David Schadel, CFP (pictured left), of Wealth Strategies Partners where Paul serves as President and David as Vice President. Paul and David have worked with Warren Bradley Partners both as Financial Advisors and clients. Over the years, we’ve had the pleasure of representing Paul’s mother in the sale of her Nashville condominium and the sale of David and his wife Ana’s Green Hills condominium. It all came full circle this year when we helped David and Anna purchase their new home in Green Hills that Marty and Nancy built in 1982 as their family home.
Recently we talked with Paul and David about the importance of having a financial plan.
Tell us about Wealth Strategies Partners
Paul: The professionals at Wealth Strategies Partners offer total wealth management. We work with families, retirees, entrepreneurs, and high-wealth individuals. In addition to our expertise in portfolio management from our team of Certified Financial Planners, we counsel clients on their estates, tax planning, insurance planning, and healthcare directives.
How did you get started in Wealth Management — was there a particular moment that sparked your interest in investing?
Paul: My interest in the market started earlier in life. It all began in middle school when my grandmother gave me shares of stock. As a young boy, I would turn to the business section every day to chart the progress of my gift, which taught me the power of compounding money and wise investing.
David: I got started in Wealth Management in 2009 right out of college. I watched both of my parents struggle with what to do after their last parent had passed. I wanted to make sure I could help families navigate these life transitions and be prepared instead of reactive. Life is hard, financial planning doesn’t have to be.
What do you love about your job?
David: I love being able to help clients achieve their goals. Nothing is more rewarding than seeing a plan come together. Whether that’s helping a family retire on their terms, educate a child, or providing the comfort that they “have a plan”.
Paul: The one thing I love most about my job is taking a family’s complex financial situation and seeing their relief as we help them accomplish their goals.
What services do you provide and what types of clients do you specialize in serving?
Paul: We provide investment management, retirement planning, education planning, review of planning documents, insurance documents, titling of assets, and health care directives. We specialize in serving clients who are corporate executives, entrepreneurs, high-net worth individuals, retirees, and corporations.
Talk about the importance of having a financial plan. What is your approach to building plans with clients?
David: We have found that most families do not have financial plans. Having a plan is essential in order to have proper and prudent investment planning, estate planning, and generational wealth. Our approach is to take each families unique situation and develop a customized and uniquely tailored plan to help them achieve their most important objectives.
What are the best tips you can share for choosing a financial planner?
David: Be sure to choose a Certified Financial Planner™ that is held to a fiduciary standard in managing your financial plan. It is so important to work with a team that has a variety of resources. The support of a professional team is critical to address your needs effectively and provide the level of service you deserve.
